Fahmida Khatun
Artist Statement:
My artwork takes a critical view of social, political, and cultural issues. In my work, I analyze the human condition in society, which is part of our childhood and adult culture. Having engaged with civil rights, change happened around us, and my work reproduces familiar visual symbols by arranging them into new conceptual ways.

I use different colours and sizes of flowers as a symbol, which combine into installation art. The flower I use as a symbol is usually red, which represents humans born as beautiful flowers. The brown flower represents how humans are frustrated by society. The huge flower juxtaposed with other flowers dominated by news media. Our society gives importance to news more than human beings. Humans are born as innocent, and as a beautiful flower, but the environment around us makes humans news in the newspaper.
